Ian Bruce

In 2003, Professor Ian Bruce co-founded the Centre for Charity Effectiveness at Cass Business School, and has taught there ever since. For ten years before that he was chief executive at the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB), where under his leadership the charity’s income rose five-fold.

He was also responsible for relaunching Age Concern, previously known as the National Old People’s Welfare Council, and then became its assistant director. He went on to become director for Volunteers UK, and also worked in local government.

He was awarded a CBE for his career in charity management and won the lifetime achievement award at the 2001 Charity Awards. He is also a Companion of the British Institute of Management and has written a number of books.
