Charity Commission spends £1m on temporary workers

The Charity Commission spent £1m on temporary staff this year, according to new figures released by the Cabinet Office.

As part of its transparency agenda, the Cabinet Office has this week released information on the total number of people working for government, including the numbers of consultants, contractors and agency staff.

The document revealed that the Charity Commission had 447 payroll staff as of March 2010. All payroll staff were paid a total of £18m for the financial year 2009/10, while 18 temporary staff, including one consultant, were paid a total of £1m for the same period.

The document also reported that Capacitybuilders spent £2m on around 44 payroll staff and the Big Lottery Fund spent £36m on 988 payroll staff and £4m on 41 temporary staff.
