Earlier this month Rethink Mental Illness co-launched the campaign with Jonny Benjamin to help him find ‘Mike’ – the man who prevented his suicide six years ago. Yesterday they announced that Mike had been found, and is in fact called Neil.

This reunion film is a touching watch, with both parties genuinely moved by meeting again under better circumstances.

Neil Laybourn’s fiancé saw the campaign on Facebook and recognised the story, he then contacted Rethink.

He said: “I was so pleased to see how well Jonny was doing, I had thought about him over the years and had always hoped he was ok, he said. When we met, it was clear how much that encounter on the bridge meant to Jonny, he told me it was a pivotal moment in his life – which was great to hear.”

Benjamin is making a documentary about his search which is expected to be ready this spring.
