Virgin Money Giving launches app following year of growth

01 Apr 2014 News

Virgin Money Giving has launched an app for users after reporting that 30 per cent of traffic to its platform last year came via mobile.

Virgin Money Giving has launched an app for users after reporting that 30 per cent of traffic to its platform last year came via mobile.

The new app, which will work on Apple IOS and Android, enables fundraisers to check on the progress of their fundraising pages and will prompt users with advice on how to improve their fundraising performance.

The launch  follows a strong year for Virgin Money Giving. Its latest accounts show an 11 per cent increase in donations processed by the site, which in 2013 was equal to £80.5m. The not-for-profit company and challenger to JustGiving supremacy in the online giving platform market processed 2.1 million donations last year and added 1,700 new charities to its register, which now includes 8,300 charities.

Virgin Money Giving blamed continued investment in the platform for an increase in its pre-tax loss from £419,000 in 2012 to £629,000 in 2013, but these costs are absorbed by Virgin Money itself.

Virgin Money Giving chair Sir Tom Shebbeare said he was "delighted" with the platform's performance.
