Shelter has made the shortlist in three of the 13 organisational and campaign awards for July’s Institute of Fundraising’s National Awards, making it the most shortlisted fundraising charity this year.
The homelessness charity - nominated for best use of e-media, best use of face-to-face and best use of events – was not shortlisted in a single category last year, but in 2013 is the only charity to make it into the shortlist in three categories.
But it is not the only charity to rack up multiple nominations. RNIB, Merlin, Macmillan Cancer Support and Action for Children have all secured two nominations each.
More than 300 entries qualified for the awards this year, compared to 200 last year, making 2013 a record for entries.
Kevin Kibble, who chairs the award judging panel, said that the high number of entries made selection difficult. “Some categories were so close that to get to the shortlist is a major achievement in itself,” he said.
