Broadcaster Scott Mills has left a second charity role following his sacking by the BBC last month.

Former BBC Radio 2 DJ Mills was dropped by childhood cancer charity Neuroblastoma UK from a five-year role as its patron last week, following his dismissal.

This week, multiple sclerosis charity MS Society UK confirmed it had also stopped working with Mills, who had been its ambassador for more than a decade.

A spokesperson for MS Society UK said: “Scott Mills has been a valued MS Society ambassador for over 10 years.

“In light of the current news, Scott is stepping back from this role while we review the situation.

“We take concerns of this nature and the trust placed in us as a charity extremely seriously.

“Our priority is the MS community and ensuring we can continue to support everyone living with and affected by MS.”

In a statement last week, the BBC said it was made aware in 2017 of a police investigation into allegations of serious sexual offences, but that new information had come to light in recent weeks that led it to sack Mills.

Mills said in a statement: “Since the investigation related to an allegation that dates back nearly 30 years and the police investigation was closed seven years ago, I hope that the public and the media will understand and respect my wish not to make any further public comment on this matter.”
