Skills Platform, an online marketplace for training and personal development courses for charities and health organisations, launched yesterday.
Charities have previously been able to access a pilot version of the site, which is hosted by Skills for Health. It has been predominantly funded by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills, which invested at least £280,000 in the project.
Organisations can search and compare training and skills development courses aimed at the health, charity and social enterprise sectors. Training on offer is divided into: face-to-face, online (e-learning) and distance education or a blend of the three. All courses can be signed up for and purchased on the website. Over 600 training providers have so far listed courses or consultancy.
Keith Mogford, development director of the Skills Platform and CEO of Skills Effect, said he wanted the new service to become the ”Amazon” of training within the health, charity and related sectors. Mogford also said that the platform “provided a comprehensive online marketplace and community for the acquisition and sharing of skills”, across all related sectors.
