Nuffield Health has partnered with Commidea and installed a new electronic payment system in most of its hospitals and in its UK contact centre.

The Ocius for PC enables the 30 Nuffield hospitals to capture all chargeable treatment on their system, speed up the payment process and simplify invoice settlement for patients.

It also means that staff will no longer need to use PDQ (process data quickly) machines to process payments or track transactions using manual paper-based systems.

Patients can swipe payment cards when they attend appointments; this means that the hospital will retain token data but not credit card details on site, giving greater data protection.

Staff can also use the token data to contact patients about outstanding invoices and take payment with the patient permission.

Nuffield Health is the largest not-for-profit healthcare provider in the UK with 200 facilities including 32 hospitals and 50 fitness and wellbeing centres.
