Makhijani appointed as first female CEO of Resource Alliance

Neelam Makhijani has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Resource Alliance, a few weeks after stepping up to the role as an interim following the surprise resignation of former chief Hans Wolters earlier this month.

Neelam Makhijani has been appointed as the new chief executive of the Resource Alliance, a few weeks after stepping up to the earlier this month.

Makhijani will be both the first woman and the first person from the Southern Hemisphere to take on the position at the helm of the international fundraising capacity-building charity.

She will step into the role vacated by Wolters six months after he was announced as the new chief executive amid fanfare at the International Fundraising Conrgess in the Netherlands last year. Makhijani is the fourth person to head the Resource Alliance in less than a year and a half.

The Resource Alliance has also announced the appointment of TrustAfrica founding executive director Akwasi Aidoo as chair, to come into effect in October. Aidoo will be the first African to hold the post.
