Legacy10 has put up £10,000 to accompany its first award for excellence in legacy marketing.

The legacy promotion campaign today launches its Award for Excellence which will be awarded to an individual working within a charity who has demonstrated innovation in promoting legacies for their organisation. The individual stands to receive £5,000 with a further £5,000 being donated to the charity.

Chair of Legacy10 Roland Rudd said: “We’re looking to find the people who are making a real difference and ensure they become ambassadors to share best practice in the sector. Legacy fundraising is a skill so often overlooked but absolutely vital in the efforts to ensure that our charities are sustainably funded in the long term.”

The award is one of which Legacy10 made to government last November.

After a long slump following the financial crash, latest figures show an overall - however it remains a way off the pre-recession peak.

Legacy10 was founded in the wake of changes to inheritance tax, which offered breaks for individuals who bequeath more than 10 per cent of their estate to good causes.

The deadline for applications is 7 October, 2013.
