The Institute of Fundraising has announced it has shed four staff in a wave of redundancies resulting from a shortfall in income.

The Institute of Fundraising has announced it has shed four staff in a wave of redundancies resulting from a shortfall in income.

There were no forced job losses, instead all four staff members took up voluntary redundancy. The IoF , citing falls in income due to an unexpected increase in irrecoverable VAT and the end of a strategic grant from the Office for Civil Society.

IoF chief executive Peter Lewis (pictured) this morning confirmed the four redundancies – which was the upper limit of job losses cited when the consultation began.

“We are pleased to say that the restructure consultation is now over and we have made the necessary changes to strengthen us for the future through four members of staff opting for voluntary redundancy,” he said. “This puts us in a very strong position to move forward.”

The umbrella body, which provides training and representation for fundraisers, highlighted organisational changes resulting from the restructure. Communications staff have been lost, and now the organisation’s media work will be incorporated into its policy and communications team. One policy position has gone, and the organisation is replacing one new officer to replace two lost. The IoF is now also recruiting a finance manager, having already taken on a new finance officer. The Small Charities Programme, a piece of work supported previously by the OCS, has now been subsumed within the IoF’s core programme.

The Institute reported an i in 2012/13, reducing its deficit by £10,000 to £99,584 and increasing income from £4.2m to £4.5m.
