Daycare Trust and the National Association of Family Information Services (NAFIS) are currently in discussions about a full merger of the two organisations.

Daycare Trust and the National Association of Family Information Services (NAFIS) are currently in discussions about proceeding to a full merger of the two organisations.

Daycare Trust (income £1.1m) is a national childcare charity, campaigning for high-quality, affordable local childcare. NAFIS (income £377,780) supports, links and promotes Family Information Services (FIS), representing a network of Family Information Services across England, Wales & Scotland.

Discussions between the two charities regarding a possible merger have been taking place over recent months, and are expected to conclude in May. Should the merger go ahead, NAFIS membership will still be available as a separate new category of Daycare Trust membership and Daycare Trust will act as the national voice for Family Information Services. The NAFIS and Families First standards brands will remain intact.

Anand Shukla, acting chief executive of Daycare Trust, said:
"Daycare Trust has a history of working closely with NAFIS, and we are excited by this opportunity to unite our organisations behind common goals and principles. We believe that this proposed merger would create tremendous scope for delivering high quality information to parents and families."
