Community Integrated Care appoints CEO after ‘most challenging year in its history’

Jim Kane is the chief executive officer of Community Integrated Care

Community Integrated Care (CIC), one of the UK’s largest social care charities, has appointed Jim Kane as its new chief executive officer.

He succeeds Mark Adams, who stepped down from the role last September after five years in post. Kane has been promoted from chief financial officer at CIC, a role he has occupied since late 2019.

CIC said Kane has navigated it through some of its most difficult periods, including the Covid-19 pandemic and the current cost-of-living crisis.

The charity, which has an annual income of over £140m and employs more than 5,000 staff, called the year ending March 2022 “the most challenging year in our history” in its recently filed accounts.

‘Incredible qualities than an organisation of our size needs in its CEO’

Libby Raper, chair of CIC, said: “Throughout Jim’s time with our charity, he has demonstrated the incredible qualities that an organisation of our size, scale and ambition needs in its CEO – judgement, composure and vision. Most importantly, his values have always been aligned with those of our charity and his decision-making has always reflected the best interests of our people.”

Since late 2019, Kane has also been a trustee of a local Home Start. He holds financial experience as a business development director at Interserve Healthcare and held leadership roles at Virgin Care, Assura Group and Phoenix Medical Supplies.

Kane said it was a “very proud moment” to be appointed chief executive.

He said: “The last three years have been a great honour, and I’m really looking forward to working alongside our exceptional people to deliver the next chapter of our organisation’s proud history.”

“The challenges in our sector are well documented, and my focus from day one will be to face these head on to deliver the best lives possible for the people we support and our colleagues.”
