The Charity Commission intends to dissolve a dog rescue charity it previously warned over a lack of unconnected trustees and repeated failures to file accounts.

In 2023, the commission issued an official warning to UK German Shepherd Rescue Angels after the charity failed to file its financial information on time for five years in a row.

According to the commission’s website, the charity’s reporting for the 2019, 2020 and 2021 calendar years is all more than 1,000 days overdue.

The regulator also warned the charity that it did not have the required number of trustees, with two listed on the commission’s website, both sharing the same surname. The regulator recommends a minimum of three unconnected trustees.

In 2023, the regulator told the trustees to file the charity’s outstanding annual returns and appoint additional trustees.

However, the commission has now published its intention to dissolve the charity in the next three months.

A spokesperson for the regulator said it had made the decision after the charity’s “trustees informed us that the charity has ceased to operate”.

Its notice of dissolution, dated 8 September, reads: “The commission intends to dissolve this charitable incorporated organisation after three months from the date of this notice unless cause is shown to the contrary.

“Representations must be made to the commission within three months.”

UK German Shepherd Rescue Angels has been contacted for comment.
