Clic Sargent celebrates supporters as income rises £1m

02 Sep 2013 News

Clic Sargent has pledged to make ‘one million thank-yous’ this Thursday to the supporters who helped it raise an additional £1m over the past year.

Clic Sargent has pledged to make ‘one million thank-yous’ this Thursday to the supporters who helped it raise an additional £1m over the past year.

The children’s cancer charity is hosting a day of thank you on 5 September as it reveals that income for 2012/13 reached £22.26m, up from £21.24m in the previous year.

The thanking will take place through a variety of forms. Social media, particularly Twitter, will be a forum for thanking, but Clic Sargent staff will also be sending out emails, ecards and postcards to supporters in addition to making some personal thank-you phone calls. Staff will be personally thanking volunteers, and in turn those staff will be thanked by senior management.

The charity will also host events in offices and shops to celebrate the day of thanks, which will extend to celebrity supporters and patrons, who will be acknowledged by way of email and Twitter.

Clic Sargent chief executive Lorraine Clifton said: “Raising an extra £1m is a huge achievement and we couldn’t do it without our many supporters.

“In the last year we’ve been able to help more than 6,600 children and young people with cancer, and their families, by providing vital emotional, practical, financial and clinical support. That’s more than ever.

“None of it would be possible without our amazing supporters and we want to say ‘thanks a million’ to everyone who has volunteered, fundraised or donated.”

Community fundraising formed the largest income stream, raising more than £7m in 2012/13, with regular and cash gifts from individuals bringing in £3.4m. Nearly £3m was raised through corporate partnerships, while legacies and trading each raised about £2.6m for the charity.
