The Charity IT Resource Alliance (CITRA) is to rebrand as Socitm Third Sector and has announced the membership of a nine-person steering group.
The steering group will report on charity sector issues to the main board of Socitm, the public sector IT association with which it merged last year.
The group will be chaired by the Charity Technology Trust’s chief executive William Hoyle and completed by:
- David Clayden (pictured), member of the main Socitm board and former chair of the Charities Consortium IT Directors Group (CCitDG)
- Martyn Croft, director of strategic information, Salvation Army
- Mary Foley, operations director, Chartered Institute of Taxation
- Adrian Hancock, managing director, Socitm
- Stuart McSkimming, strategy leader, VSO
- David Membrey, acting chief executive, CFDG
- Iain Pritchard, partner, Sayer Vincent
- Bonny Young, adviser
In a statement, the group said: “The merger reflected the growing need for collaboration between the third sector, local and national government as well as support for professional development for members in response to the government's IT Profession agenda.
“The Socitm Third Sector community comprises all CITRA members who joined Socitm through the merger and in the subsequent period. It is also open to other members and guests with an interest in third sector activities.”
It added: “The Socitm Third Sector community will draw many of its members from the traditional CITRA constituency of smaller charities although the Society does have increasingly close relationships with the CCitDG which represents the largest organisations in this sector.”
A Socitm Third Sector members’ meeting will be held on 18 February in London, where discussion will include improvements to its membership scheme and an initiative to establish a professional development programme for third sector members.
A free event, it will be open to non-members as well as members.
