Homelessness charity Centrepoint has distanced itself from former celebrity partner Sharon Osbourne after she seemed to confirm last week that she would be attending far right figure Tommy Robinson’s upcoming Unite the Kingdom rally.

The charity, of which the Prince of Wales is patron, said it had no future plans with Osbourne after she used her official Instagram account to reply to a post promoting Robinson’s rally on social media last week by saying: “See you at the march.”

Osbourne had been an ambassador for a campaign that Centrepoont ran with Omaze, which raised money for the charity by selling entries for a sweepstakes-style draw to win a £5m home overlooking Lake Windermere along with £250,000 in cash.

However, following Osbourne’s Instagram post, a Centrepoint spokesperson said that while she had supported the charity for the campaign, “she was not an official ambassador”.

“We have no plans to work together in the future,” the charity spokesperson said.

Political activity like this runs counter to our values and our long history of supporting young people regardless of their background, religion or ethnicity.

“If we want young people to thrive in this country then we need to ensure our society continues to allow them to live without fear and to access the opportunities they need to start education or work and leave homelessness behind.”
