Allergy UK and Anaphylaxis UK will merge on 1 October, the charities have announced, with a new name set to be revealed shortly.

The two organisations have collaborated for more than 30 years but now plan to combine to “create a more powerful, unified voice” for their beneficiaries.

While all the services provided by both charities will continue, they expect the merger to provide economies of scale and to reduce costs through combined back-office functions.

Simone Miles, chief executive of Allergy UK, the larger charity, will lead the merged organisation.

Meanwhile, Anaphylaxis UK’s interim CEO Georgina Jones will take on a senior leadership role.

In a statement, the organisations said: “By formally coming together, the charities will strengthen their collective position to influence policy, improve care, and expand support and education.

“This is not about scaling up for its own sake, but about increasing impact – aligning complementary strengths to better respond to what is a growing and often overlooked public health issue.

“With a single, shared set of objectives, the merged organisation will be better equipped to advocate for system-wide change, raise awareness, and ensure that allergy care and safety receive the attention and priority they urgently require.”

Greater London-based Allergy UK recorded an income of £1.23m and expenditure of £1.27m in the year to March 2025, when it had 22 employees on average.

Meanwhile, Surrey-based Anaphylaxis UK recorded an income of £634,000 and expenditure of £566,000 in 2024 and employed nine people on average.
