Cathryn (Cathy) James is director of the whistleblowing charity Public Concern at Work. A trained lawyer, she has been employed by the charity since October 2005, leading the charity’s legal advice helpline and consultancy and training activities.
As director, a post she took on in an interim capacity in June 2010 and permanently since May 2011, James also leads the charity’s public policy and campaigns work and oversees its financial management.
Before joining PCW James was a partner in the liability unit at Kennedys Solicitors for five years and had two stints as assistant solicitor at Edward Lewis Solicitors, from 1997 to 2000 and 1993 to 1995. From 1995 to 1997 she was assistant solicitor at OH Parsons and Co.
James is also a Local Education Authority governor at a large inner London school.
