Nick Brooks has been appointed as president and chairman of the Chartered Accountants Benevolent Association following ten years of serving as a trustee for the organisation.
Brooks was one of the first group of practitioners to achieve the joint ICAEW and Cass Business School diploma in charity accounting and also heads up the not-for-profit sector group at Kingston Smith where he is partner. He is also treasurer of the Charity Law Association and chair of the Institute of Chartered Accountants’ Charities Technical Committee. Previously he was chairman of the standards committee of the Institute of Fundraising for 15 years.
Commenting on his appointment, CABA’s chief executive Kath Haines said: "We are delighted that Nick has accepted the role of president. His knowledge of the not-for-profit sector will be invaluable to us.”
Haines also thanked previous president John Heskett, who remains a trustee of the charity, for his “dedicated commitment”.
Brooks said: “I am honoured and delighted to have been asked to take on the role of president of CABA. The charity is making a significant contribution to improving the lives and well-being of chartered accountants and their families who are experiencing difficult and challenging times. As the demands on our services increase, I am confident we can continue to deliver positive results, making a real difference to the lives of those we help.”
