Expenses guidance due next month

The independent expert panel that is devising guidance for the sector on whether and how its trustees and senior executive staff should report their expenses, has further postponed the publication of its recommendations until February.

The group was convened by NCVO and CFDG last June and originally said it hoped to publish its guidance by October.  But it has been inundated with responses to its consultation on the issue, receiving 663 in total, and in November it had to find two new people to join the group after one of the members, Professor Paul Palmer, admitted a conflict of interest and stepped down.

These delays have forced the postponement of publication of the guidance. Now the group, which is chaired by former Charity Commissioner Lindsay Driscoll, says it will hold its final meeting in January and will publish preliminary recommendations in February, with a full report to follow “soon after”.
