Celebrities from LA to London used their mobile phones to film a series of impassioned selfie shorts to save the bees.
US actress, Melissa Joan Hart, and British TV personality Ben Fogle were among two of the well-known celebs to grab their phones to highlight the plight of the bumblebee for the Bumblebee Conservation Trust.
Hart, best known for her role as Sabrina the Teenage Witch, said: “I am doing things around my house like planting lavender and other plants so that we can bring the bumblebees in to thrive. I enjoy all my fruits and vegetables so much and pretty flowers… so bumblebees are very important to me and I hope they are important to you too.”
Ben Fogle spoke of the foods he would most miss if bee populations were to die out.
“Over the last 80 years their numbers have dwindled. If we lost the bumblebee, I would most miss apples, raspberries, chocolate and of course coffee,” he said.
Two species of bees have become extinct since 1940 and others have rapidly declined in numbers due to the removal of flowers from our landscape.
The Bumblebee Conservation Trust hopes that this short film will encourage people to plant bee-friendly flowers and do their bit to save the bumblebee.
