Film of the week: St Pancras International #danceforsurvival flash mob by Pancreatic Cancer Action

Pancreatic Cancer Action sought to raise awareness of the disease with an impromptu flash mob at St Pancras Station.

Pancreatic Cancer Action sought to raise awareness of the disease with an impromptu flash mob at St Pancras Station.

Dancers from the Living the Dream Dance Company performed to a medley of pop songs, starting with a track from Dirty Dancing, which starred Patrick Swayze who died from pancreatic cancer in 2009.

The charity chose St Pancras station because it is commonly mispronounced as St Pancreas Station.

Ali Stunt, chief executive of Pancreatic Cancer Action said: “While it can be amusing when people mix up St Pancras and St Pancreas, it also serves as a positive inadvertently by raising awareness of a disease that has been little known for far too long.  Pancreatic cancer has had the same shockingly low survival rate of three per cent for 40 years.”

Captions on the video explain more about the disease, and the charity now hopes that its supporters will share the video and to raise awareness.
