Film of the week: How do you wear your poppy? by the Royal British Legion

The Royal British Legion has been wondering how people wear their poppies and released a short video with a few examples ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

The Royal British Legion has been wondering how people wear their poppies and released a short video with a few examples ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

It starts with a satirical explanation of the 'correct' way to wear a poppy, before spinning then spins off to show a graffitti artist's interpretation, how a dog owner marks the occasion, examples of poppy tattoos, and even a young girl mistakes the poppy for an edible treat. It also features Dr Who star David Tennant and the future Doctor, The Thick Of It frontman Peter Calpaldi.

The film provides an intelligent response to the yearly debate about how to wear a poppy - the Legion doesn't mind how people show their respect just as long people do!

In this month's issue of Fundraising Celina Ribeiro explores how military charities have performed over the past few years.

Every Friday civilsociety.co.uk features an innovative or effective use of film by a charity. If you would like to draw our attention to your charity's film, or even someone else's please email [email protected]
