The Royal British Legion explores the many ways to wear a poppy in our film of the week. Doctor Who actors David Tennant and Peter Capaldi are shown wearing it close to the heart. Others add a creative touch – a soldier with a poppy hat, a dog with a poppy collar and a baker with a poppy cake.

The video begins with a formal introduction to poppy etiquette.

The vintage-styled presenter says: “If you are a civilian, make sure your poppy is always close to your heart by wearing your poppy on your left lapel. The poppy stem should point directly down. Never wear it at an angle.”

We are also shown an alternative rock’n’roll way to wear the poppy – a burly man with an arm of poppy tattoos and a graffiti artist painting an urban poppy design.
