RNIB is running its regular Christmas Stamp Appeal this year - and why not? Since it started the appeal more than 20 years ago it has raised over £100,000, last year raising £24,000.

The charity is asking the public, to donate their used stamps, with RNIB able to claim £10 per kilogram for British stamps and £15 per kilogram for overseas ones.

Terri Bush, RNIB’s Volunteer Stamp Appeal Co-ordinator, said: “With 1.7 billion cards sent each year the scope to raise vital funds from used stamps is massive.

“Any amount of used stamps, large or small, is appreciated and will really go a long way to helping RNIB deliver its vital services for blind and partially sighted people this Christmas and throughout the year.

“Getting involved is easy – so there really is no excuse not to get stuck in by sending us your unwanted stamps.”

Stamps should have a half to full centimetre of space cut around them before being posted to RNIB, PO Box 6198, Leighton Buzzard, LU7 9XT.

The charity has created a poster that people can print off and share in their workplaces to encourage people to get involved.
