Introductions
We’ll spend a few moments getting to
know each other, and thinking about what we most want
to get out of the session.

For beginners: SEO fundamentals
  • A brief history of search — we’ll cover search engines from the 90s through to now. You’ll learn how search has evolved, how search works, and gain a fundamental understanding of how to rank in search engines.
  • Creating people-first content — we’ll look at the key factors in creating content that interprets and responds to user needs, and you’ll learn how to produce content that works for all your stakeholders (a crucial mindset needed to succeed with SEO).
  • Identifying key users — we will explore the importance of knowing your target users and meeting their needs. Another fundamental concern when seeking to improve SEO capability.
10:40
Exercise (live page review) + discussion — we’ll work in
small groups to analyse a webpage based on what we have
learned so far, and we’ll bring it back to the main room to
discuss.

The role of PR in SEO — we’ll explore the value of news
coverage in SEO, historically and going forward, and learn
how you can capitalise on your unique experiences to
drive publicity, search potential, and traffic.

Exercise (thinking from a PR perspective) + discussion
to make this session as valuable as possible, you’ll be
challenged with some questions that you can apply
directly to your organisation. This alone should give you
something tangible to take from the session.
11:45
The role of AI/LLMs in SEO — no session on SEO would be
complete without a look to the future of SEO, in particular
the growing influence of systems like ChatGPT on search.
You’ll gain a clear understanding of how best to tackle this
emerging technology head on.
