Charity Shop Survey 2021
The Charity Shops Survey 2021 is the latest chance to review the health of the charity retail sector.
This year, the survey looks at both the operational performance of charity retail – that is, annual profit and loss using traditional measures of income and expenditure – and financial performance once we factor in the unprecedented government programmes designed to keep trading companies and charities afloat. To that end, we asked charities to provide their trading figures but also some details about the amount of Covid-specific government support they received.
The survey collected detailed data from 28 organisations, ranging from the country’s biggest charity shop network to a voluntary organisation that supplements its income with a single store. This is similar to the number of charities surveyed last year and includes information provided by four of the UK’s five largest charity shop networks, which collectively run more than 2,500 stores.
