Rui Domingues

Director of finance and ICT, Friends of the Elderly

Despite holding a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in urban (civil) engineering, Rui turned to accountancy during the recession in the 1990s and hasn’t looked back.

After a number of years training in commerce, he made a conscious decision to pursue a career in the not-for-profit sector, where he has been all millennium. He has been with Friends of the Elderly since 2010, bringing both charity and registered social landlords experience.

Professionally, Rui is an FCCA, is chair of the CFG’s Technical Accounting Forum, is a member of the ACCA’s Charity Panel and a finance committee member at BMS World Mission.

As well as being a husband and father of four children, he is also a deacon, church secretary, youth worker, webmaster and occasional preacher at his local Baptist church.
