Karen Brown
Karen Brown has been chair of Oxfam since 2011. She is also a member of Oxfam International Board of Supervisors and Finance and Audit Committee.
Since 2014 she has been chair of Booktrust. Prior to working with Oxfam, she chaired ActionAid and was vice chair of its international board. She has sat on not for profit, business and regulatory boards and was a governor of Haverstock School.
Brown has a strong background in communications having started her career as a programme maker in Granada Television and later worked as commissioning editor and controller at Channel 4. She was deputy director of programmes, responsible for a large proportion of Channel 4’s content and MD for 4Learning.
