Jim Black

Jim Black is chair of DISC (Developing Initiatives Supporting Communities) board of trustees.

He went from selling medicine to volunteering for the Samaritans and Cyrenians - and loved it. A 24-year career in probation and a longstanding commitment to the voluntary sector followed. When he retired in 1998 as assistant chief probation officer in Cambridgeshire, he embraced new opportunities as a tribunal member and chair of DISC and the North East Prison After Care Society.
