The majority of young professional charity advisers who made the inaugural list of up-and-coming professional advisers for the charity sector were women, making up 18 out of those appearing in Charity Finance’s 25 under 35.

Charity Finance magazine has profiled the young talent at leading accountancy and legal firms who will be help shape the charity landscape in the next 30 years.

Those who made the cut cited funding, the future role of the Charity Commission, reputation and impact as the major themes which will affect the sector during their careers.

The youngest people who were selected are Rebecca Fry (pictured) a solicitor at Farrer & Co and Jaquetta Tibbetts, a senior trainee at HW Fisher, both aged 28.

Tibbetts, who started by volunteering for a cause that was close to her heart, said: “As my commercial skills developed so did my interest in the management of charities and the controls and processes involved in making them successful.”

Also among the rising are Luke Fletcher, partner and head of social finance at Bates Wells Braithwaite, Tom Davies, director – not-for-profit at Grant Thornton and Eva Abeles, senior solicitor at IBB.

Ian Allsop, author of the 25 under 35, said: “Many of the leading individuals in professional firms today have been at the forefront of their firm’s engagement with the sector throughout the last 30 years.

“Inevitably, a number of those esteemed individuals are now approaching the end of their careers. The recent untimely deaths of Stephen Lloyd, former senior partner of Bates Wells Braithwaite, and this magazine’s own founder Daniel Phelan, add to a sense of changing of the generations.”

Senior charity team leaders in the leading firms listed in Charity Finance’s charity audit and legal surveys were asked to make nominations and send supporting evidence. Individuals were then contacted to offer their own views.
