Who's Moving: RSPCA, Relate, Tearfund and more announce latest movers

Aidan Jones, chief executive of Relate

Our weekly summary of the latest movers in the charity sector. 

Chief executive 

Relate, the relationship support charity, has appointed Aidan Jones as its new chief executive. He was previously director of WorldSkills Abu Dhabi 2017, an exhibition of skilled professionals worldwide held in the Middle East last year. He will take up the role on 3 September. Finance and operations

Tearfund has appointed Nigel Gavin as finance and IT director. He joined from Save the Children where he was director of financial governance.


Fundraising and communications 

The RSPCA has appointed Lewis Coghlin as director of income generation. He has been director of fundraising at Cats Protection for the last seven years and will join RSPCA on 8 October. Sally Cornish, who joined RSPCA as interim director of income generation in 2016, will leave the charity in September. 


Non-executive roles 

International Alert has appointed a new chair and three new trustees. Carey Cavanaugh, a retired US ambassador who is now a professor of diplomacy and conflict resolution at the University of Kentucky, has been named as chair. 

Hans Bolscher, a climate change adviser, has joined the board and also become the chair of International Alert Europe. Abir Haj Ibrahim, a co-founder of a network of social activists in Syria, and Erin Segilia Chase, who has over 25 years' experience in philanthropy, have also joined the board. Chris Mullin, Helena Puig Larrauri and Gordana Duspara Moriarty will be stepping down after serving their terms.

Julie Bell has been announced as deputy chief guide by Girlguiding. She volunteers in Lancashire and has been involved with the charity since joining Brownies when she was seven. For the past four and a half years she has been the chief commissioner for Girlguiding North West - the senior voluntary role in the region.
