Mercy Ships UK, Winston’s Wish, RP Fighting Blindness and more announce their latest appointments.
Chief executive
Lea Milligan (pictured) has been appointed executive director of medical charity Mercy Ships UK. He replaces Judy Polinkhorn who is set to retire after leading the charity for over a decade.
Milligan will join the charity on 1 July 2016 from registered charity City Gateway, where he is currently chief operating officer.
He has over 10 years’ experience working in senior roles within the charity sector.
Fundraising and communications
Bereaved children’s charity Winston’s Wish has appointed Emma Radley as director of fundraising.
She joins Winston’s Wish from Oxford Brookes University where she was head of fundraising from 2006 to August 2015. Prior to that she worked for Oxford University Hospital NHS Foundation.
She will be tasked with raising £2.5m each year for the charity.
RP Fighting Blindness, a national sight loss charity, has named Ian Watson as its new fundraising manager.
Watson will join RP Fighting Blindness from Brain Tumour Research, where he was head of fundraising. Prior to this, he was head of fundraising at Pancreatic Cancer UK.
Fundraising Manager is a new role that has been created at RP Fighting Blindness.
Non-executive
Alzheimer’s Society has appointed Stephen Hill as the new chair of its board of trustees. Hill will take up his new role in September 2016, after the charity’s AGM, and succeeds Ann Beasley, who has served as interim chair of the organisation since 2015.
Hill is currently chair of Action on Hearing Loss and has been on the organisation’s board for the last seven years.
Hill was previously chief executive of the Financial Times Group where he launched FT.com and was also chief executive of online betting agency Betfair.
