Finance and operations

Jonathan Beck has been appointed as the chief financial officer of Scottish cancer charity: Worldwide Cancer Research.

A qualified chartered accountant, Beck (pictured) has previously worked for financial services firms such as EY, ACE and Ariel Re. This is his first role working for a charity, but Beck has served as a trustee for severable charitable organisations in Scotland.

In the role, Beck will oversee the charity’s finance, operations and governance to try had deliver on its new five-year strategy.

Accountancy firm Kingston Smith has announced that Nick Brooks, its former head of not-for-profit has stepped down from the role and will be replaced by Neil Finlayson.

Brooks, who has been the firm’s head of not-for-profit for only 20 years, will now focus more on the firm’s consultancy services to the sector.

Finlayson, his replacement, has worked with a wide range of charities for more than 25 years and is a founding member of Charity Finance Director’s Group, now known as the Charity Finance Group.

Non-executive

The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust has announced the appointment of David Sheepshanks as a trustee on its board.

Sheepshanks has worked extensively in football, serving the Football Association; Football League and Ipswich Town for over 25 years as a chair with various boards.

He also has served on a number of charity and community boards, including: the Ipswich Town Community Trust, Suffolk Community Foundation and is currently chair of the UK Community Foundations.
