Who’s Funding: Youth Investment Fund, Clarion Futures and more

In this fortnightly column, we look at the funding pots available to the charity sector. 

Youth Investment Fund

Grants available: up to £150,000
Deadline to apply: 9 June 
Who is the funding for: 
The Youth Investment Fund, which launched last August, is open for final bids from youth organisations. Organisers say the grant scheme has been “popular and heavily oversubscribed”. Subsequently, grants will only be awarded to youth projects that can deliver their projects by 31 March 2025. The first two rounds of funding awarded £90m worth of grants to 43 youth services across England. Applications to the main Youth Investment Fund programme for large capital projects close on 1 June. All eligible youth services can apply for a refurbishment grant of up to £150,000 to help youth services reach more young people. This could include roof repairs, damp proofing, electrical work, plastering and other building work that does not require planning permission. 
When will you hear back? 
Three to four months after a submitted application.

Heart Research UK - healthy heart community projects

Grants available: up to £15,000
Deadline to apply: 8 June
Who is the funding for: 
Local charities in England that are helping people look after their heart health can now apply for a grant of up to £15,000. Applicants must have an annual income of less than £1m. The funding must go towards projects delivering health initiatives mainly focusing on reducing the risks of heart disease in the community. 
When will you hear back? 
Unspecified.

Clarion Futures – William Sutton prize 

Grants available: up to £50,000
Deadline to apply: 3 July
Who is the funding for: 
Clarion Futures, the charitable foundation of Clarion Housing Group, is looking to fund projects that have the potential to improve the carbon footprint of the social housing sector and its residents. Organisations registered to work in England can bid for grants of up to £50,000. Mole Architects won the prize last year for its zero-carbon homebuilding system designed to support the development of group build community housing.

Pilgrim Trust – Young women’s mental health grant programme

Grants available: £60,000 - £90,000
Deadline to apply: 7 August
Who is the funding for: 
Charities that work to improve the mental health of young women (aged 16 – 25) are invited to apply to the Pilgrim Trust’s grant. Eligible applicants must be based in Northern Ireland, North West, North East England and Yorkshire and Humber. The charity must be registered, have been operating for three or more years and have a turnover from £100,000 to £1m. 
When will you hear back? 
End of November.
