So Elton John is to guest-edit the Independent and its commuter-targeted sister paper i on World Aids Day, 1 December. All proceeds from sales of that day’s papers will go to the Elton John Aids Foundation.

The last time the Indy had a guest editor was in 2006, so it’s not something the newspaper does on a regular basis.

Could it be that Elton and/or the Independent’s editor Simon Kelner heard about Andrew Hind’s guest editorship of Charity Finance early next year, and decided to take a leaf out of our book?
