Welcome to the new Civil Society website. We’re still providing the latest charity sector news and views, in-depth content from Charity Finance, Fundraising and Governance & Leadership magazines, as well as information about our events and training courses and jobs from around the sector. But the new site is cleaner, faster and easier to use.

It’s also fully responsive, so it will adapt to whatever device you’re using.

Here’s a whistle-stop tour through some of the fantastic new features. We’re still in beta so if you spot something odd or have any suggestions please let us know

News

Nothing has changed when it comes to our approach to quality, independent journalism and we’ll be continuing to provide all the latest and best sector news online in the news section

We’ll still be highlighting examples of great achievements in the sector, be it a record fundraising total, launch of an innovative campaign, or an interesting senior appointment.  And of course we’ll continue to hold politicians, regulators and charities to account for their actions.

Our free daily news bulletin has also had a makeover and is now easier to read on mobile – if you don’t already receive it, register here to be added to the mailing list

Voices

Voices is a completely new section. Previously, online opinion pieces were tagged as blogs and were mixed in with the news content, but with the new site we really wanted to give sector’s personalities a greater profile online. Civil Society Voices will do just that.

Here you’ll find reaction to current and ongoing issues in the sector from both our team of specialist journalists and experts working in and around charities. As we go along we’ll be looking for new regular and guest contributors, so please get in touch if you have something to share with other charities.

Corporate providers to the sectors also have the opportunity to demonstrate their expert insight and thought leadership in this section. For more details contact Yvette Micallef

In-depth sections

All the articles and research pieces that appear in our specialist titles - Charity Finance, Fundraising and Governance & Leadership magazines - are also now accessible to all subscribers online and can be found under the corresponding headings.

Discussion

To encourage lively and free-flowing debate, comments will no longer be pre-moderated. If you see something inappropriate please flag it using the ‘report’ function or contact the editorial team.

We’re using the Disqus platform to host comments. This means you can log in with an existing Disqus account, or Facebook or Twitter account to have your say on an article.

For certain sensitive articles we’ll be disabling comments.

Unfortunately it was not possible to bring all the comments from the old site across to the new one, but hopefully it won’t be long before the comments are flowing on new content.
