Celebrities including Simon Pegg, Joanna Lumley and JLS founder Ortise Williams have added their signature to WaterAid’s wall of water in Canary Wharf to commemorate World Water Day.
The campaign sees supporters of the charity able to have their name displayed on a ‘wall of water’ ahead of today’s global day to celebrate water.
Supporters are asked to pledge their support in order to see their name in water opposite the entrance to the Canary Wharf station, but a spokeswoman for the Good Agency, which devised the campaign, said WaterAid is not soliciting any donations or using the data to raise money in future. Instead the names captured will be used in a petition to demand that government support the charity achieving its vision to have everyone in the world have access to clean water by 2030.
The public were encouraged to text or tweet the charity on Wednesday and Thursday this week in order for their name to appear in water.
HSBC have funded the installation of what the campaign claims is the UK’s first use of ‘Aquascript’.
