International volunteering charity VSO has moved headquarters to Kingston upon Thames, Surrey, saving the charity £400,000 a year.

VSO’s patron HRH the Princess Royal officially opened its new head office last month.

Angela Salt, director of VSO UK, said the charity’s new head office gave staff the opportunity to work remotely, and that this translated into cost savings for the organisation: “VSO internationally and in the UK is saving around £400,000 every year following our move to a more efficient work space in Kingston upon Thames.

"We’ve adopted new technology so more staff can work remotely and connect with colleagues around the world.”

VSO was previously based in offices in Putney.
