Charity technology company Valldata has made a successful bid to buy Our Lasting Tribute, the in-memoriam giving site thrown into jeopardy after agency Whitewater went under.

The deal remains subject to contract and comes after .

Thirty-five charities presently use Our Lasting Tribute, which enables individuals to set up tribute funds for dead loved ones to raise money for the charities registered on the site.

Valldata has come to an agreement with Whitewater liquidators, and said that once the deal goes through it expects Our Lasting Tribute to be “poised for growth”.

Hamish Horton, chief executive of Valldata, said the company was delighted with its purchase.

“We hope to complete the legal process in a matter of days and would very much like to thank those clients who have had to sit nervously on the sidelines while events have unfolded over the last few weeks,” said Horton.

Our Lasting Tribute presently has no staff, and Horton said Valldata will aim to “stablise” the product within its own infrastructure before taking it into the market to grow.

“We have a reputation of job creation so we would expect that this will follow the same direction. As a guide we increased our overhead base last year by 22 per cent to cater for our continued growth and expansion,” he said.

The chief executive of Involve Marketing Group, which owned the now-defunct Whitewater, Martin Smith said the Valldata purchase was “fantastic”.
