Police have arrested a man and a woman on suspicion of fraud and money laundering at Prince Charles’ charity the Foundation for Integrated Health.
The move comes after police spent the last month investigating a reported total of £300,000 left unaccounted for in the charity’s books.
Scotland Yard confirmed that a 49-year-old man, who is believed to be a former aide of the Prince, was arrested in an early-morning raid in London along with a 54-year-old woman.
They have been bailed with a date to return in June.
The Foundation, of which Charles is president and which promotes homeopathy, herbal remedies and other complementary medicines, is now 179 days overdue in submitting its accounts.
In its accounts for the year ending Dec 2007, it reported an income of £1.2m.
A spokesman for the Foundation said he could not comment while a police investigation was ongoing.
