Tesco supports women's health through feminine care products

Tesco is raising money for women’s health charities through a new range of feminine care products.

Tesco is raising money for women’s health charities through a new range of feminine care products.

The supermarket giant is donating 15p from the sale of Halo brand tampons, towels and pantyliners to the Halo Initiative charity, which supports organisations in the UK and Republic of Ireland whose work includes fighting ovarian and breast cancer, helping women with mental health issues and protecting women from domestic violence.

The Halo Initiative was recently set up by Tesco and registered to its head office address, but is wholly independent from the supermarket and run by its board of trustees.

“Switch from your usual femcare range to Halo,” said a launch statement for the brand, “and get that inner satisfaction feeling, knowing that the money you have to spend every month on your feminine essentials  is being put to good use and supporting womankind.”

Halo is also launching a marketing campaign dubbed ‘Show us your knickers!’ to raise awareness of the product range and its charity initiative. It invites women – and men – to customise a pair of undergarments in a bid to win £500 worth of Tesco vouchers.

Women in the UK spend more than £20m on feminine care products each month.
