The Telegraph newspapers have raised more than £1m for its four annual Christmas appeal charity partners.

Excellent Development, Starehe, BLESMA and Bliss will share in £1.047m (including gift aid) raised by the Sunday Telegraph and Daily Telegraph.

Among traditional fundraising mechanisms, this year star Telegraph journalists took calls from readers in a phone-in which raised just under £125,000.

All beneficiary charities said that partnering with the media group had provided invaluable media coverage for their causes.
