A student at City University has launched a volunteer-led technical support service offering free IT advice to individuals and organisations, including charities.
Computer science and artificial intelligence student Luther Knight came up with the idea for Digitally Maintained to give himself and fellow students the opportunity to gain work experience.
He said: “With Digitally Maintained, I hope to enable fellow students to expand their CVs in a flexible way, while helping all of those people who need technical support, but either can’t afford it or don’t know where to look.”
People can submit IT questions to the team through an online form on the website and a volunteer will respond with a solution.
There is a selection of tutorials on the website addressing common IT problems and Knight is hoping to recruit more volunteers to be able to offer tailored support.
