Sparks has included QR codes directing people to Barclays' Pingit app on the welcome letter for this year's Bake for Bumps fundraising campaign.
The personalised QR codes were developed by Checkprint, part of the Tall Group of Companies, and gives fundraisers for the children's charity the option to pay in the money they raise at their bake sale using Barclays' mobile payment app.
Each fundraiser will be sent a unique QR code - a black and white square of data that can be scanned directly into mobile phones - enabling the charity to easily identify individual fundraisers’ donations and save time on manually entering the data.
Laura White, head of regional fundraising at Sparks, said: “By generating QR codes for our latest Bake for Bumps campaign Checkprint will save us, and our supporters, even more valuable time and money which we can put to good use in other areas of Sparks’ work.”
This is the first time that Checkprint has created QR codes for a client.
Barclays launched its mobile payment app in 2012 and added the ability to donate with gift aid function in August 2013.
The 2014 Bake for Bumps campaign takes place over the weekend of 15 to 18 May. Last year the campaign raised more than £25,000 for the charity.
