David Membrey, deputy chief executive of the CFDG, has been appointed to the main board of Socitm.

David Membrey, deputy chief executive of the CFDG, has been appointed to the main board of Socitm.

He becomes the second charity sector representative on the board of the IT professionals’ membership body, alongside former Salvation Army IT director David Clayden.

Speaking to Civil Society IT, Membrey said his events experience was key to his appointment.

He said: “Socitm sees events as one of its key ways to engage better with the third sector, so by having me with both those hats on the board, we will hopefully be able to engage better.”

He added that he has already utilised Socitm’s contacts to bring public sector speakers to the CFDG IT Conference in March, including the Cabinet Office’s deputy government CIO Bill McCluggage.

Membrey had previously sat on Socitm’s third sector steering group, and attended his first meeting on the main board late last month.
