Sarasin and Partners has appointed two new investment managers to its charity team, both of whom were previously with Newton.

Sarasin and Partners has appointed two new investment managers to its charity team, both of whom were previously at Newton.

Ruadhri Duncan and Melanie Roberts join the firm in October and November respectively.

Richard Maitland, partner & head of charities at Sarasin, said: “We look forward to these two experienced professionals joining our team as part of our long-term strategic goal of increasing our charity investment activities.

“Their strong investment credentials and significant experience of working with trustees makes each of them first class additions to the Sarasin & Partners charities team.”

Changes at Newton

Newton’s charity team has seen significant change this year, with Ruth Murphy moving to Brewin Dolphin and Jamie Korner announcing his retirement.

In their places, former UBS head of charities Andrew Pitt will join in September as head of charities. He will be joined by UBS colleague Paul Mitchell, while Bhavin Shah of Societe Generale and Richard Sankey of Kleinwort Benson have both already joined the firm.

A spokeswoman for Newton said: “We are extremely confident that having strengthened our charities team we have the right structure in place to enhance the service to our charity clients and grow the business for the future.

“We recognise the strengths of the existing team by adding to individual responsibilities, and made some exciting new hires that will bring fresh ideas as to how we approach the marketplace and ensure our charity clients receive the best service from Newton.”

She added that Melanie Roberts had decided not to return to Newton after the birth of her fourth child while Ruadhri Duncan’s departure had been confirmed by mutual agreement earlier in the year.
