The RSPCA has installed location tracking software in its vehicles to improve response time and reduce costs, choosing Trimble’s GeoManager fleet management solution.

By knowing the exact location of each of its response vehicles, dispatchers should be able to make better decisions about which inspector to send to an incident.

Director of operations at the animal welfare charity said: “Some of the locations can be remote or difficult to find and having technology that enables us to find who is closest at any given time will mean an animal is found more quickly and this can help our staff enormously.”

RSPCA also hopes that making rescues and collections more efficient should reduce fuel usage and in turn reduce costs.

The software will also detect potential vehicle faults before a breakdown happens. In addition, the RSPCA has purchased a driver safety system from Trimble which means that fleet managers can monitor drivers’ behaviour for speeding and harsh breaking.
