A tribunal has ruled a removed charity unfairly dismissed a former worker and must pay her more than £15,000.

The charity, Mosses Community Association Limited, went into liquidation in 2019 and has since been taken off the register.

Last month, it was ruled that the charity had not complied with orders of the employment tribunal.

A statement from the court said the way proceedings have been conducted by the former charity “has been scandalous, unreasonable or vexatious and that the respondent has not complied with orders of the employment tribunal”.

Damages to be paid

The claim for unfair dismissal succeeded, and the claimant was awarded £2,285 as compensation.

Mosses Community Association was also ordered to pay damages of £7,730.

As it failed to pay the claimant’s holiday entitlement the former charity was also ordered to pay the claimant an additional £5,469, making the total sum more than £15,000.

Charity Commission data for the financial year ending 31 March 2018 put its total income at £370,000 and total expenditure at £336,000.
